Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, CAS
Abstract:
In his presentation, Professor Stott will give a brief introduction to colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) and the relevant scientific properties that make them interesting materials for both fundamental research and real-world applications. Then, he will give an overview of his previous collaborative work and achievements involving QDs throughout different stages of his career. Finally, he will discuss the current work of his CAS research team on the chemical engineering of reactor systems towards commercially feasible scale-up and some preliminary results for QD photolithographic patterning towards ultra high-resolution optical display technologies.
Brief CV of Prof. Nathan E. Stott:
Nathan E. Stott is a doctoral supervising professor at UCAS and team leader of the Nanomaterials for Electronic and Renewable Devices (NERD) Team《电子与可再生器件用纳米材料组》of the Laboratory for Advanced Nano Materials and Devices at Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, CAS. Professor Stott is a quantum dot (QD) and nanomaterials subject matter expert, inventor, and R&D professional; with expertise in the intersection of chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology who previously had an extensive career in cutting-edge industrial R&D. His research and development focus has been primarily on novel synthetic process development, scale-up, and applications of QDs and nanomaterials in the fields of printed electronics, optical displays, and photovoltaic devices. Dr. Stott earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2004 under his mentor, Professor Moungi G. Bawendi, a world-renowned QD pioneer and 2023 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.
